NNL Friends-

Happy New Year! Here is one of my favorite quotes:

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice

because thorn bushes have roses. -Abraham Lincoln

Let us rejoice in our dear NNL offering friendship and fun

throughout the area! Our numbers are robust, and we have

planned many varied activities for fun.

Be sure to sign up for our February Luncheon. We are featuring

a Humane Society speaker who will speak to us about service

dogs, and a Puppy Kitty Shower for the animals. Look for the

Sit Up and Beg Wish List elsewhere in this newsletter. Contact

Sue F.  or send her your check for $20.

Our day and night Meet & Greets are starting up after a pause for

the holidays. I urge old and new members alike to come out and

catch up with us. A hot cup of coffee and a talk with friends is

just what we need!

Our Social Wizards, Sybille S. and Cheryl R. are

planning another wonderful social for us! Be sure to save the

date, March 3rd, to enjoy the Spring Progressive Dinner.

We also have a “cheese event” being planned by the Foodies

group. Stay tuned for the details next month!

Also, check out our Free At Last group for Moms with school age children and preschoolers. They meet once a month for friendship and sharing.

Check out activity groups listing for information.

See you soon! So, for now, stay warm and enjoy visiting with your friends!

January

President’s Message

NNL Friends-

Here we are at the start of a brand new year!

We all celebrated the holidays with a wonderful and well attended December luncheon. We delighted in the food and the wonderful Strolling Strings. We netted nearly $2,500 with the Silent Auction. I would like to thank all the ladies involved with making this event such a success.

The board will be considering charitable organizations to donate to with the next board meeting. Please submit your ideas to any board member or send me an email or give me a call.

We also put on the First NNL Holiday Dinner at Blue Hills Country Club. This event was a popular addition to our social schedule. The food was sumptious and the entertainment was great!

Our Cookie Exchange was a mouth watering occasion and great fun!

We continue to offer many opportunities for fun and friendship. At this time, our Social Wizards are planning a progressive supper to take place in early March. Be sure to save the date for this great activity!

For all my day trippers out there, we are still looking for a captain for that ship! Since inclement weather has shut down our efforts many times in January, the next day trip is being planned for March. Karen Bourland will be planning that trip, so you may talk to her or me with any suggestions.

The New Member Incentive Program is continuing until June 30,2012, so be sure to invite your friends and relatives to become new members. The member who brings in the most new members will win a $50 gift card!

We are off to a great start for 2012! I hope to see you at one of our

activities soon!

December

President’s Message

NNL Friends-Let me introduce myself to you. I have been a member for three years.

I started as the coordinator of the day trips. I accepted the Vice President

position last year and added that on to the day trips. Today, I am

happy to be your new President. I look forward to working with you

all to continue to make NNL a vital and growing club. Please call on

me if I can help in any way.

As we rake up the last of Autumn’s leaves, we look forward to football

games and holiday feasts. We have had many NNL activities to celebrate

the fall season. The Supper Club met at Tasso’s Greek Restaurant

this month and enjoyed delicious food and wonderful entertainment.

Our day trip to the Kauffman Performing Arts Center was wellattended

and enjoyed by all. Our group outing to the American Heartland

Theatre to see The Marvelous Wonderettes was a great success.

We continue to collect donations for out December Luncheon and

Auction on December 1, 2011. Please contact Betty Cook at 913-851-

5977 or Carol Bernhard at 573-864-0098 to donate items. Be sure to

make your reservations for this fun event. Get your check for $20 to

Sue Fischer soon!

New this year is the First NNL Holiday Dinner Gathering at Blue Hills

Country Club on December 14, 2011. Meet with your NNL friends to

celebrate the holidays. Send in your check for $32.50 per person to

Sybille Schellack, Social Wizard, by Friday, December 9, 2011.

Our Cookie Exchange will be held at Sue Fischer’s on December 11,

2011. Mark your calendars now and let Sue know you are coming!

We have a full calendar of events. I hope to see you at one soon!
